Trace a word. Lift your finger. The tray re-shakes every go.

Trace a word. Press a letter and drag through the ones next to it — sideways, up, down or diagonally. Lift your finger and the word goes in. Drag back a letter to rub it out.
Three letters or more. Each cube can only be used once in a word. The Qu cube counts as two letters.
Scoring follows the real thing: three or four letters score 1, five score 2, six score 3, seven score 5, and eight or more score 11.
The house rule. The tray re-shakes after every attempt, right or wrong, so a word you have played is gone. Turn it off in Settings for the classic game: one tray, shaken once, for the whole round.
Either way you are told straight away how a word went — the score if it counts, or why it did not: not a word, too short, or one you have already had.
Stuck? Leave the tray alone for two seconds and a hint offers itself. The first press tells you where a word starts; press again to see the whole thing.
On a computer you can also just type the word and press Enter.
